SOME WAYS TO GET AHEAD FOR A CAREER IN MICROBIOLOGY

EDUCATION IS THE KEY HERE

This is one of the key components for this career. If you like being in school, get used to it. Most staff positions require you to have at least a PhD in microbiology. You need to have a vast understanding in cell biology, microbiology and chemistry. If these subjects are not your bread and butter, consider a new career choice.

Now if you are interested in just an entry-level position, a bachelor’s degree is okay. A bachelor’s degree will definitely get you in the door, like for an associated field. If you want to go farther than this, then you need to aim higher with your education goals. It’s like law school or business school, you have to be willing to go all the way. Microbiology is like any other tough field of study, the more education you have, the further you will go. The choice is yours

 

EXPERIENCE

This is also key. Get a job as soon as you can, even while you are in school. The more experience you have, the more likely you will be consider for higher positions. Get involved in research. Research is a key component for this career field. You will be doing lots of it, so get used to it.

 

STICK WITH IT

The job market for microbiology is rising. It will only get stronger as the years go by. Stick with it, even if you feel as though nothing is happening. Something will happen. A job promotion will be in your future. Sometimes you just have to tough it out. Continue to get more education under your belt. Continue to keep working. This can be a tough field, a field where only the strong survive. Just being in this field will prove how strong you really are.
